While working as the Marketing Coordinator at Trellis, I got to plan events...and promote them. Our 40th was upon us. And a celebration was in order!

We themed the fundraiser "There's No Place Like Home." How'd we get there? Well, the number 40 is represented by a ruby. Ruby led us to ruby slippers. Which led us to Wizard of Oz. And that turned into the famous line "There's No Place Like Home." And Trellis is all about home ownership!

But this wasn't your average Wizard of Oz theme. This event took a much more dramatic take on the classic film -- old Hollywood meets art deco. And it all happened in a renovated warehouse in Phoenix.

the event

Sign outside of the venue.

Guest first checked in, and then walked through a hallway with black and white photos, before entering the rest of the venue which was in full-color. (See what we did there!)

Guests were then encouraged to follow the yellow brick road into the event.

Our CEO and President even rocked some ruby slippers!

A few decor shots.

Don't forget to buy a brick! Bricks were sold at the event to help build our donor wall.

Raffle prizes galore! All packages had a home theme. And our wonderful volunteers who sold tickets -- decked out in plaid aprons, reminiscent of Dorothy.

A rockin' local swing band got the crowd dancing. We mayyyy have snuck in a few professional dancers disguised as normal guests to encourage participation.

The awards presentation included a brain award, a heart award, and a courage award. Each platter was painted by a local artist.

Everybody loves party favors! Prints were made by a local artist.
